- ARTstor is a non-profit organization created by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. As part of its ongoing effort to become a community resource, ARTstor is developing a rich digital library that will offer coherent collections of art images and descriptive information as well as the software tools to enable active use of the collections. The ARTstor Library's initial content will include approximately 300,000 images covering art, architecture and archeology. ARTstor's initial software tools will support a wide range of pedagogical and research uses including: viewing and analyzing images through features such as zooming and panning, saving groups of images online for personal or shared uses, and creating and delivering presentations both online and offline.

Founded in 1867 by D. A. Sanborn, the Sanborn Map Company was the primary American publisher of fire insurance maps for nearly 100 years. Sanborn maps are valuable historical tools - they are large-scale plans containing data that can be used to estimate the potential risk for urban structures. This includes information such as the outline of each building, the size, shape and construction materials, heights, and function of structures, location of windows and doors. The maps also give street names, street and sidewalk widths, property boundaries, building use, and house and block numbers. Seven or eight different editions represent some areas.

- The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Timeline of Art History is currently over 20,000 pages, consisting of around 300 chronological narratives, 750 special topic essays, and 5000 color illustrations of Museum works of art. It is supplemented by maps, comparative works of art, and site photography. You will also be able to take advantage of the comprehensive index organized by subject, special topic, artist, or accession number to find a specific theme or work of art. The Timeline production team will continue to add images and essays to the online resource in the next few months, so please return for updates.
