Indexes & Databases

Online Indexes

Academic Search Complete o n p r o x y (courtesy of Texshare LogoTexshare) | includes Full Text
Provides full text for more than 5,000 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Technical Meeting Papers o n p r o x y
AIAA publishes approximately 4000 papers, presented at 20 conferences, each year. The online version of the meeting papers allows access to full-text scanned images; browsing by author, title, and conference.

American Institute of Physics Conference Proceedings o n p r o x y | includes Full Text
AIP Conference Proceedings report findings presented at many of the most important scientific meetings around the world. Published proceedings are valuable as topical status reports providing quick access to information before it appears in the traditional journal literature. Proceedings volumes 500+ are available online. (2000-)

Compendex o n p r o x y Downloading to EndNote
The electronic version of Engineering Index, Compendex indexes the engineering literature. (1884-)

Computer Physics Communications Program Library r i c e o n l y
Established in 1969 the CPC Program Library now contains almost 2,000 programs in computational physics and chemistry. Papers describing the programs are published in the Computer Physics Communications Journal and are available online via Science Direct. (1969)

DigiZeitschriften o n p r o x y | includes Full Text
DigiZeitschriften makes it possible for researchers to access well-known German journals. According to specialists in the field, the journal titles are among the most important in each subject area; at the moment about 110 journals are available in the following subject areas: Arts, Comparative Literature, Economics, Education, English language and literature, Geology, Germanic language and literature, History, Law, Librarianship, Mathematics, Music, Religion, Romance language and literature, Sciences, Sociology. Like the North American counterpart, JSTOR, Digizeitschriften digitizes a journal from volume 1 to the 'moving wall' (2-5 years before present date). Both English and German interfaces are available.

Dissertations and Theses - A&I o n p r o x y | includes Full Text
Proquest Dissertations and Theses - A&I database includes citations for masters and doctoral dissertations from 1861 to those accepted as recently as last semester; those published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts, written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. The database represents the work of authors from over 1,000 North American graduate schools and European universities. The full text of dissertations and theses (Rice, 1918- ) may also be downloaded free of charge.

INSPEC o n p r o x y Downloading to EndNote
*See password information.*
Inspec provides citations and abstracts to the worldwide literature in physics, electronics and electrical engineering, computers and control, and information technology. Sources include more than 3,500 journals and more than 1,500 conference proceedings, books and reports. (1898-)

Journal Citation Reports o n p r o x y Guide
Journal Citation Reports is published annually in two editions and allows you to evaluate and compare journals using citation data drawn from over 7,500 scholarly and technical journals from more than 3,300 publishers in over 60 countries. JCR Science Edition contains data from over 5,900 journals in science and technology. JCR Social Sciences Edition contains data from over 1,700 journals in the social sciences. Searchable by subject category, publisher, country or specific journal title. Note, this resource does not have a humanities edition.

Science Citation Index o n p r o x y see Web of Knowledge

Science's Next Wave o n p r o x y
Science's Next Wave is a weekly online publication that covers scientific training, career development, and the science job market. The Next Wave is published by Science magazine and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The system provides access to a databases for jobs, grants, and salary info.

Scopus o n p r o x y | includes Full Text
Indexes over 15,000 journals, as well as several million web pages and U.S. and international patents. Database include article citations from 1996, and permits citation tracking, and (both) saving searches and email or RSS alerts of new material. The system will export records into major citation managers and prepare a bibliography according to major formats. (1966 (pre-1966 for selected major publishers))

Web of Knowledge o n p r o x y previously known as Web of Science | includes Full Text
The Web of Science is an integrated database of three citation indexes: Science Citation Index (SCI), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), and Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI). SCI and SSCI have searchable author abstracts and each database may be searched by a variety of other accesses including who the author cites. WOS permits searching one or more of the three databases. SCI on WOS coverage is from 1900 to date. SSCI indexes material from 1956 to date. AHCI indexes materials from 1975 to date. Includes ISIHighlyCited: a directory of over 250 eminent researchers in life sciences, medicine, physical sciences and social sciences. (minimum 1975- (see description))
